People in Motion Pop-up Shop: Reuse and Recycle

"Pop-up" shop in an outdoor marquee with various items of clothing for sale

Over the summer our volunteers have been running our Pop-up charity shop at various events across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, reusing, and recycling all whilst raising funds to keep the charity going.

We are always grateful when people donate clothing items, though sometimes we receive clothing that is not appropriate to send to refugee camps. We decided to find a use for the sparkly hot pants, fancy dress items, the ball gowns and sequin dresses and so set up our Pop-up Charity shop.

Volunteers at the pop-up shop

Over the past year or so our little shop has raised hundreds of pounds at events such as Nozstock, West-fest, River Festival, Farmers Markets and more, and this money has been put back into the charity to help cover running costs. We are really pleased that we can reuse and recycle items that people no longer want or need and pass them on to others to enjoy; to help this happen our pricing systems is ‘pay what you think it is worth, or what you can afford’. This balances out really well as people that have more money are happy to pay a higher price and people that have less money can still buy nice things.

We are always looking for volunteers to run the Pop-Up shop, or perhaps you could host a Pop-up Party with friends in your home/ community. If this is something that you would be interested in doing or would like more information, please get in touch with us to find out more.
